Plymouth set to host the Christmas Market

Date

Plymouth is looking forward to hosting the Christmas Market on the Piazza, Armada Way, from Thursday 28 November to Sunday 15 December. This event will bring together the community and visitors in the heart of the city centre.

The market will feature festive log cabins adorned with lights and garlands, showcasing over 50 local traders. Attendees can expect a variety of unique gifts, crafts, clothing, bespoke jewellery, and seasonal treats.

Shoppers will find handmade pottery and ceramics, as well as personalised Christmas decorations from local artisans. The market will also offer a diverse selection of food and drink, including spiced mulled wine and cider, alongside sweet and savoury options such as churros, crepes, Yorkshire pudding wraps, and German swing grill. Local vendors like The Early Bird will provide freshly baked goods, including brownies and hot sausage rolls.

Food and drink items will also be available as gifts, with stalls featuring award-winning rums from the Devon Rum Co., along with other local specialties. Visitors can explore a range of bespoke jewellery, clothing, and accessories, catering to both personal and gift shopping needs.

The Plymouth Christmas Market is free to attend, operating Mondays to Saturdays from 10am to 6pm, Sundays from 10am to 5pm, and extending hours until 9pm for late-night shopping each Thursday.

This year’s entertainment will include daily performances from local schools, university and community choirs, as well as a variety of musical acts. Performers will include local bands and artists, contributing to the festive atmosphere.

Stilt walkers in Christmas-themed costumes will engage with visitors every Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, providing opportunities for memorable photographs. Additional selfie spots, such as a giant illuminated bauble, will enhance the festive experience.

Steve Hughes, Chief Executive of the Plymouth City Centre Company, said:

“This is one of our big events of the year. We have added to the entertainment, so it’s a great opportunity to come in with family and friends, get into the Christmas spirit, soak up the atmosphere and support our traders and city centre businesses.”

Jess Bolt, Marketing Manager, Plymouth Citybus, said:

“We’re thrilled to continue our support as sponsors of the Plymouth Christmas Market this year. It's always a joy to be part of such a festive and vibrant event, and we can’t wait to see everyone enjoying the Christmas spirit in the heart of our city”.

And even if a new car or van isn’t on your Christmas list, we have exciting competitions for you to enter! We look forward to seeing you there”.
