At the recent Plymouth Growth Board, we launched the fourth edition of the Plymouth Book of Wonder, combining some of our favourite facts from the previous three editions, alongside some quirky and fascinating facts about Britain’s Ocean City.

We have amazing facts about Plymouth businesses including that Vispring is the bed of choice for celebrities including Claudia Winkleman and Ashley Banjo.

And that Rittal-CSM make 120,000 IT racks every year that if stacked on top of each other would launch the first IT rack into orbit.

Some of our previously featured favourite facts include that The Box archives hold the proof that Devon invented the Cornish Pasty with a recipe from 1510 and well known comedian Dawn French was born in Plymouth!

We’ve also discovered a few new ones including,

The first Director of the National Gallery and President of the Royal Academy, Sir Charles Lock Eastlake was born in Plymouth in 1793.

The South West Coast Path that runs through Plymouth has been named the happiest walk in the world.
