Local suppliers given new opportunities to work with Plymouth’s biggest organisations

Date

More than £3 billion worth of business opportunities have already been posted on Plymouth’s newest and largest platform for accessing tenders, procurement opportunities and finding local suppliers.

Find It In Plymouth has officially launched, giving businesses the chance to receive regular opportunities and supply their goods and services to some of the city’s biggest organisations.

More than 100 opportunities have already been posted, with a total value in excess of £3.44 billion.

Hundreds of businesses have already registered on the platform and started accessing local opportunities - and there’s an open invitation to the rest of the city’s enterprises to get started for free on the new platform.

They’ll also be able to advertise their own opportunities and find suppliers easily.

It’s free to sign up to Find It In Plymouth, a partnership between Plymouth City Council, Plymouth Chamber of Commerce and Babcock to support the supply chain and encourage spending in the local economy by larger organisations.

The aim is to bring buyers and suppliers together to boost the local economy, secure jobs and support our region's carbon reduction goals.

The new platform is simple to register for and supported by some of the city’s biggest buyers, including Babcock and SMS Group.

The platform is an extension of the collaboration between partners that has included the successful series of Meet the Buyer events hosted by Plymouth Chamber with Babcock and SMS Group, where the city’s supply chain get the chance to meet some of the biggest names in the city. The Chamber has also led on the series of Pitch and Procure events, where SMEs get the chance to ‘pitch’ their services and products to some of the region’s largest organisations.

Chamber CEO Stuart Elford said:

“The Find It In Plymouth platform is a tremendous step for local procurement. For many years we have been trying - with success - to find ways of bring buyers and suppliers closer together.

“Our regular Meet the Buyer events have done an awful lot to achieve this but this new platform will transform the way that buyers and suppliers communicate with each other quickly and easily - meaning better, more efficient business that takes place locally.”

Plymouth City Council Leader Councillor Tudor Evans said:

“This platform is more than just a business directory – it’s a hub for local procurement, where Plymouth’s enterprises can discover new opportunities and collaborate on projects that benefit our community.

“When we invest in our local supply chain, we’re investing in Plymouth’s future. By keeping business local, we support job creation, foster innovation, and ensure that the economic benefits stay within our community.

“Plymouth’s success is built on the strength of our local businesses. So, if you haven’t already, join us on Find It In Plymouth and be part of something bigger. Together, we can build a brighter future for our city’s businesses with a stronger local supply chain.”
