The University of Plymouth is currently working with consultants Golant Innovation and The Fifth Sector to undertake a review of the Immersive sector in and around Plymouth, under the working title ‘Immersive Futures’. Joining up the immersive capability and capacity that we now have at the Market Hall, in the University’s new Immersive Media Labs and Immersive Vision Theatre, and in other locations, businesses and organisations like Plymouth College of Art and Plymouth Science Park, opens up a range of exciting possibilities not only for creative arts practice, but also exploring new ways of teaching, enhancing touristic experiences, furthering medical research and developing innovative new processes for the region’s marine and manufacturing sector.
Our aim is to develop a clear strategic narrative for the city that can help to guide local decision making and align future investments, projects and partnerships. We want to set-out an ambitious vision for Plymouth that positions it as the UK’s leading Immersive Innovation Ecosystem; a vibrant and distinctive hub which can act as a beacon for inward investment, and a key driver of economic growth and productivity.
Stakeholders from across the city and wider region have been participating in interviews and workshops. Now we’re asking those already engaging with immersive or who are interested in its potential for their work, across sectors, to complete a short survey to gather more specific data ahead of a final report which will be shared in autumn.
Follow this link to complete the survey before the 13th August to make sure we capture your thoughts.
