Last week, the Government announced the following additional support for eligible businesses:

  • All retail, hospitality and leisure businesses will not pay business rates for 2020/21. They will receive an amended bill confirming this in due course.
  • Any childcare providers who are registered on the Ofsted Early Years Register will not pay business rates for 2020/21. They will receive an amended bill confirming this in due course.
  • Any business currently in receipt of Small Business Rate Relief may be eligible for a £10,000 cash grant.
  • Any retail, hospitality or leisure business with a rateable value below £15,000 may be eligible for a £10,000 cash grant.
  • Any retail, hospitality or leisure business with a rateable value between £15,000 to £51,000 may be eligible for a £25,000 cash grant.

We have now received additional guidance from the Government about how to provide this support and our team within Plymouth City Council is working hard to set up the necessary processes, as fast as they can.

As soon as we have more details, we'll share the information with you across our social media channels, website and newsletters. We know that this is urgent and our teams are working as quickly as possible to set this up so businesses can apply for financial aid.
