Travel changes and transport information

Date

Plymouth Citybus and GWR have amended their services and timetables in response to the latest Government advice and guidance for COVID-19.

Plymouth Citybus

With the announcement of schools closing, Plymouth Citybus will be moving to Saturday service levels every day between Monday 23 March and Saturday 28 March 2020. Sunday 29 March 2020 will run as per a normal Sunday Service.

There will be some additions to this to make sure that areas of the city that do not currently receive a Saturday service do so. This includes the 44A and services to Estover Industrial estate on service 34. See timetable info here

Please refer to the timetables pages on www.plymouthbus.co.uk for information on Saturday Services. If you have any questions please ring the Plymouth Citybus customer services team on 01752 66 22 71. The Citybus team has closed its Travel Centre on Royal Parade and relocated the resource to be able to answer questions over the phone.

Service updates will be share on the @Plymouthbus twitter feed, which is also available on the Citybus website and via their app.

All Citybus buses accept Contactless payment and all day and week tickets are available via the Citybus app. By using these methods passengers will reduce physical contact.

Plymouth Citybus has concentrated its cleaning efforts on 'touch points' inside the bus, with increased cleaning levels.

Plymouth City Council have lifted time restrictions for National Bus Pass Holders in the city, meaning holders can now travel for free anytime. Previously this was only allowed post 9.30am.

As of Monday 30March, Plymouth Citybus will be running special emergency timetables.

There will be two timetables: one for weekdays and one for weekends.

Citybus have been working closely with other ‘Key Worker’ companies to make sure that we still provide a service for their staff to get to work.

The timetables also give connections for communities to ‘Essential Shops’, for those needing to go out and shop for necessities such as food and medicine, which following the governments advice, must be as infrequent as possible.

Please use contactless card for your travel and make sure you abide by social distancing rules, when both on the bus and waiting / boarding the bus.

Citybus will shortly be removing all other timetables from their website and publishing the two new emergency timetables. They are working as fast as they can behind the scenes to get these available as soon as possible. Please allow them time to do so. Citybus customer experience team are then available to answer any questions by phone on 01752 226671 or email.

GWR

Reduced services will be available on GWR reflecting national advice against non-essential travel, whilst maintaining services critical to keeping key workers moving during the current situation.

The new timetable will operate from Monday 23 March until further notice. There will however be some changes to advertised services over this weekend.

The changes prioritise key routes, essential to people continuing to deliver vital services as the UK responds to the current situation. GWR will be operating hourly London services to Bristol Temple Meads, South Wales, Worcester Shrub Hill and Plymouth where customers will be able to connect for Cornwall. There will be significant changes to regional and branch line services.

GWR are working to enter all changes into online and digital timetables, which should be updated in the next seven to ten days. From then individual journeys can be checked on www.gwr.com/travel-updates/check-your-journey

Until then all details will be available on a dedicated page on www.gwr.com
