Real Ideas have collaborated with local pollinator CIC Pollenize to coordinate a brand-new immersive dome experience, in response to World Earth Day 2022 as part of their Seeds for Schools initiative. The crowdfunded project aims to equip 36,000 children across Plymouth with wildflower seeds to encourage them to play their part in pollinator conservation.
Real Ideas commissioned Team 3, a Plymouth based immersive start-up, to create an immersive dome experience which demonstrates the importance of pollinators in our habitat and promotes re-wilding of urban spaces. Launching during the Easter holidays, visitors to the Market Hall can colour their very own wildflower from ten selected species and see it blossom and come alive before them in a virtual Plymouth environment. As more flowers grow, more bees, moths and other pollinators appear. This activity also features a live story reading of ‘Ziggy’s Frightening Flight’, a fantastic children’s book which illustrates the work that bees do for our environment and engages children of all ages.
On 21 April, the Market Hall will also host British Sign Language signed story reading ensuring the activity is accessible for all.
This activity is part of the iMayflower project and has been supported by The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, who fund the Cultural Development Fund, which is administered by Arts Council England.
