City College named top further education college for employer satisfaction in England

Date

The survey, which captures employers’ perceptions on the quality of the training provided and the responsiveness of their college to their needs, is the national benchmark for comparing training providers for the work they do with their local business community.

The news comes hot on the heels of the results of the Government’s national ‘FE Choices student satisfaction survey 2016 to 2017’ results, which saw the College achieve second place in the ranking of all colleges in the country.

Phil Davies, the College’s Principal and Chief Executive, said: “This is an amazing set of results in both surveys, measuring the satisfaction of our students and business customers.

“We are constantly looking to the region’s employers to help shape, influence and develop both what we offer and how it is delivered. Over the years, our provision has often been recognised at a national level because of the way in which the local business community influences developments at the College. This ongoing symbiotic relationship between College and commerce most recently manifested itself in the establishment of our Regional Centre of Excellence for STEM, the development of which was supported by over 200 employers across a range of industries.

“We have been able to anticipate the future skills needs of our community as well as responding to their current requirements. This not only benefits our employers, but also our students who leave us with the necessary skills to meet the needs of their chosen industry. It is gratifying to see this hard work recognised, and I look forward to continuing our excellent working relationship with our region’s businesses over the coming year.”

City College supports the region’s employers with their award-winning Apprenticeship provision, as well as providing a range of courses and bespoke training programmes which enable employees to upskill or retrain to better support their business’ requirements.

The College was also recently awarded the Teaching Excellence Framework Gold award for its university-level provision – the only institution in Plymouth to be awarded Gold in this year’s awards.
