Associated British Ports (ABP) has stepped up to support British Firework Championships as the lead partner for this year's British Firework Championships.
This year's partnership is particularly significant as it supports the British Firework Championships’ Charity Partner, RNLI, in celebrating its remarkable 200-year milestone of saving lives at sea.
The British Firework Championships firmly positions Plymouth on the national stage, making it fitting to have ABP, the UK’s largest port operator, drive this event forward. This collaboration not only enhances the Championships but also highlights and promotes what Britain’s Ocean City has to offer.
Millbay Docks
ABP has made, and continues to make, significant strides in the development of Millbay Docks at the Port of Plymouth. The transformation of Millbay Docks aims to secure the long-term future of the Ferry Terminal, strengthen the port’s freight capability, increase the port’s green credentials, and grow the offering to the thriving cruise market.
The redevelopment works will increase the port’s ability to handle general cargo and containers, and support a state-of-the-art Passenger Boarding Bridge for the ferry and cruise market. Millbay Docks play a pivotal role in the UK economy, contributing over £93 million and handling around 80,000 tonnes of cargo per year. These transformative developments, including £1.3million of Freeport seed capital funding, will ensure the continuation of this important work, alongside ABP’s and the city’s ambition to increase global trade.
Commitment to Net Zero
ABP, along with Plymouth City Council and Brittany Ferries, has pledged to work together to support the growth of Millbay Docks and to work towards Net Zero by signing a Memorandum of Understanding. This agreement aims to ensure that Millbay Docks enjoy a sustained era of clean, green, and good growth, with investments in future-proof facilities at the docks for years to come.
